"Invalid or nonexisting document"

Hi All,

User is trying to access a Database in Lotus Notes Client [5.0.8], while he clicks on Database icon, he gets following error “Invalid or nonexisting document.”

He is directly accessing database from server, not replica.Same database can be accessed by other users w/o any issue.

I have tried below 3 options.

  1. Delete the Desktop5.dsk and Cache.dsk file from your c:\lotus\notes\data folder. Then, start up the Notes client again.

  2. If that does not work, then your location document is corrupt. Open the notes.ini file in your c:\lotus\notes folder. If you are running a shared installation, then this file is in your c:\lotus\notes\data folder. Look for the line that starts with “Location =” and delete the rest of the line after the equals sign. This will cause Notes to start with the first location document in your address book. Save and close the file and restart Notes.

  3. If the above solution did not work, then the first location document is the one that is corrupt. At this point, you can rename your address book in your c:\lotus\notes\data folder (the default filename is names.nsf) and create a new one. You will then have to recreate your old location document.

Please share your similar experience on such kind of issue.

Deleting the bookmarks.nsf usually corrects this issue.

I would normally first check their ACL access in the database.

Maybe the database has launch doclink in about document - and the document itself has reader restrictions which would result in this error.
