Hi, I have a database used by multiple users. This db uses a frameset-outline method of navigating. User A, whenever he navigates around the db, gets the “Invalid or nonexistent document” error message. This happens whenever he clicks on an outline entry or the frameset contents change. However, even with the error he is still directed to the correct outline and continue working normally. This can get to be irritating especially if he needs to shift frame contents often. However, other users of the database on the server do not experience the error. Any ideas as to how this happened or the cause? Thanks for any help.
Subject: Invalid or nonexistent document
I have seen something similar in an R5 client when one or more of the side / top nav frames contain forms (rather than pages). In the instance I experienced, I was able to track it down to the Notes client somehow loosing ‘focus’ and trying to refresh a form in the wrong frame. I did this by adding some script to the QueryOpen and QueryRecalc events, testing using the debugger on a working client to check which order everything loaded / refreshed, paying particularly attention to the NotesUIWorkspace object and NotesUIDocument object. I then repeated the testing on the problem machine and found that in when the error occurred there was no NotesUIDocument set where on a working machine there was.
In the end, I resolved the problem by removing the db icon from the workspace, compacting the workspace and re-opening the database.
