"Invalid or nonexistent document" when forwarding certain messages

Hi all-

I just recently upgraded my Notes client & mailfile to 8.5. I monitor a mailbox other than my own that still resides on a Domino 6.5.5 server, and is still using the 6.5.5 mail template. Periodically, I will try to forward a message from the 6.5 mailbox, and I am presented with the error “Invalid or nonexistent document”.

A co-worker who still runs 6.5 is able to forward without issue. this does not happen with every message, and I have yet to discover a commonality amongst those that throw the error.

Anyone seen this yet?

Thanks!

Subject: Supported configurations

You should always use a template version that is the lowest between the server and client. Templates are frequently updated with the latest available libraries.

Your may or may not be related to your template version. As a test considered backing down your template.

This technote is from an older release but test the scenario and see if it applies. But if reverting to a supported configuration solves the issue then that is what is recommended.

Subject: Technotes

Thanks for your reply

I looked at both technotes, and we are using a supported configuration. The Mailfile that uses the 6.5 template is being accessed with a Notes 8.5 client - which, unless I read it wrong, should be supported.

The 2nd technote references messages with attachments received from outside parties. The messages I am experiencing problems with are all internal mail - might or might not have attachments. I suppose it’s nothing terribly major, as that problem mailfile will be upgraded to 8.5 in the near future. Hopefully that will take care of whatever glitch is occurring.

I appreciate your time & ideas!

Subject: My apology 6.5 not 8.5

I thought I read you were running a 8.5 template. If you are running a supported template try one or more of the following:* Using another user’s 6.5 client open your mail file with your id and verify if the issue remains on a specified document

  • Copy a problem document from your mail file to another mail file (if access issues use a blank db as an intermediate step). Test forwarding with another users mail db and id file using an 8.5 client and 6.5 client.

Consider contacting support with a reproducible scenario if:

  • You cannot recreate bad behavior with 6.5 client with same mail db and id file

  • You cannot reproduce bad behavior after copying document to mail db being accessed with 6.5 client but can reproduce when coping to mail db being accessed with 8.5 client

Subject: Problem just ocurred again

I am running Notes 8.5 client, and MY mailfile is using the 8.5 template.

From my 8.5 client, I am also accessing another mailfile (help desk stuff) - it is using the 6.5 mail template.

2 internally sent messages just arrived to the 6.5 mailfile - one I could forward, the other I could not (invalid or nonexistent document). I just can’t figure out why one message will go & the other throws an error. Odd.

Subject: If you have a reproducible…

If you have a reproducible scenario consider opening a PMR with support. You would need to provide a database with two example documents.
