Hi All,
I have a user who has an archive database on her network drive. When she tries to open it, she gets this error… “Database cannot be read due to an invalid on disk structure” We just upgraded the user to R6 from 5. I do not know if this database was upgraded with the R6 mail template as I did not do the upgrade. User said it worked before the upgrade.
I’ve looked at other posts but they don’t really seem to give a good answer for this problem. Will a compact work?

It seems that Notes6.5 likes the new ODS43 MUCHHH better that ODS41.
Problems with mailbox views weren’t caught in R5, but ND65 freaks-out & causes the corruption.
We had users corrupting DBs for the first few days after the upgrade from R5 to ND65.
Run Updall -R, then Fixup -F -J on the corrupted DBs. This will fix the DB views.
I suggest you also run Compact ASAP to get to the new ODS. The server runs alot smoother

I can’t get it to work. The client was upgraded to R6, but I do not know if the database design was replaced; I am not the one who did the upgrade. Further, I only have a R5 test server to run the utilities one, I do not have access to an R6 server. We have gone back a while on tape back up, but no good. The file was on a file network drive rather than on a server. Can I convert it back to R5? I tried compact -r but still no good.

The address book is corrupt. It happens allot under 6.Replace it or create a new one.

You can try running a compact/fixup however I found that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
If that doesn’t work, you can always try to create a replica of the database, delete the orginal, then create a replica of the replica and give it the orginal file name.
Or you could just restore from backup.
