We have an exchange server and a domino server behind a firewall. The “external names” are (exchange) mycompany.com and (domino) mycompany.net. The domino server routes smtp mail externally fine- w/ the exception of mycompany.com which the router queues w/ the message in the log that mycompany.com is not responding. So, for some reason, rather than just routing the e-mail to the internet and allowing it to come back in through the firewall- it attempts to route it internally- but, I have not been able to find why- now, one last piece of info maybe if you poing mycompany.com and mycompany.net- you get the same IP (our firewal) and I don’t know if that is what is confusing it.
Subject: Intranet routing
Not that anyone responded- but I just put the internal IP address of the .com server on the two domino servers “hosts” file and that seems to have corrected the problem. The admin of the exchange server is a bit slow to do it on his end- as he doesn’t really like it when Notes works well. ![]()
