Intra-day agent suddenly stops for a WHOLE day then resumes at midnight

Domino 8.0 with DB2.

I have a lotusscript scheduled agent that runs every 10 minutes. It has not been touched at all in weeks. Every time it runs it creates a log document detailing it’s activity.

Yesterday, for a whole day (26th Aug) it does not appear to have run at all.

Just now (just past midnight) it ran and cleared a blacklog of work (unfortunately this work is time critical - it sends SMS text messages to mobiles to remind people of events!).

Just after the stroke of midnight, the following appeared on the log:

27/08/2008 12:01:51 AM Agent Manager: Daily Clearing Event Issued

And it kicked into action sending out a day’s work of SMS messages.

THE ONLY thing that changed yesterday was that I enabled automated maintenance on DB2 which I have now disabled.

In a slight panic here.

Subject: Update2

I was able to trigger the same “db2 serialization failure” by issuing a backup command against the db2 database, which necessarily ‘quiesces’ the database and takes it offline. Domino ofcourse goes crazy, not having a datastore to talk to. It’s curious though that the agent manager would give up on a scheduled agent until it does it’s ‘daily clearing’ whatever that is.

Subject: UPDATE: “DB2-Serialization failure.”

Examination of DDM logs shows this event. What is it?
