Internet mail address

I have an ‘Internet mail address’ problem:I upgraded to Notes client (Release 6.0.1) and only use the internet, (ie no Domino server is involved) and my Internet mail address on outgoing mail is not working.

In my Location document,

the Basics tab for ‘Internet mail address’ has …"First Last"firstlast@isp.com,

the ‘Mail’ tab for Internet domain for Notes addresses when sending mail directly to the internet’ says: …isp.com…(I’ve also tried …‘blank’ instead of “isp.com”).

  1. the Domino Mail domain, says …blank .

Under the above conditions, recipients of my internet mail when they try to reply get in the reply address …First_ Last/FirstLast@isp.com… which won’t work of course.

I’ve read forums and see that others have had similar problems, but no definitive answers. Any suggestions?

Subject: Internet mail address

I suggest You give up any atempt to use Notes as a stand alone internet mail client. Lotus isn’t suporting it. We have been trying for a long time since we wanted our users to use the same client for private as well as company mail, thus avoiding MS Outlook etc. There was odd releases of version 5 that we could get to work but not on v6. Part of the problem appears to be that the user (of course)has the same name both as private and corporate user.

So now we have given up and install Outlook with all the problems that causes. As a consequence more and more want to use that for internal company mail as well. Which in turn causes other problems.

It’s a pity Lotus doesn’t want Notes to be an internet mail client.

Subject: Never give up! - I have been doing this for years and it works fine.

If you’d still like help with this, please email me directly… I just saw your post so am not sure if you fixed it or gave up.
