When I send emails to an smtp account, when the receipient presses reply, it puts my notes address in the To field to send back to me, and of course this fails becasue it is not an appropriate smtp mail address.
I have my smtp email address in the Internet Mail Address field on the location document, but this does not work in Notes 8 or Notes 8.5
It has allways worked in R5, R6, and R7 when using Notes as a POP3 client.
I’m not using a server. I simply have Notes R5, R6, R7, R8 and R8.5 loaded on my laptop. with 2 Account documents (one for the smtp server and one for my pop3 account) and one connection document pointing at my ISP’s smtp server.
The problem only occurs when I used R8 or R8.5
Please advise if you have resolved this problem?
Subject: try to set the update flag …
Had this problem some time before. Found following advice which worked for me:
Open Location Documnet in edit mode, select from menu Actions/Extended/Set Update flag (hope that this are the right translations - i am using a German client :-)) and answer the question with NO.
This should prevent Notes to reset the internet address field.
Good Luck
Subject: Read the question again
This is not about dynamic client configurator overwriting the address in the location document. It’s about the client completely ignoring the value.
Subject: Same thinghere
Users do not have an assigned internet email address in their person documents, and have the email address of a mail-in database listed as email address in their location document.
For some reason the 8.5 client’s happily ignoring this email address.
