When sending mail externally from lotus notes client by changing the internet address at location document with X person’s Internet address,Then the mail is going externally by X person’s name,So when the recipient is replying it is going in X person’s mailbox not to the original sender’s mail box. This is causing a security issue please suggest the solution…Thank you very much in advance.
Subject: I have seen this as well.
This is I think a known issue to most Domino admins. However, it means that the user had to purposefully do this. Which means they are purposefully trying to send e-mail out with someone else’s name.
I takes effort on the user’s part to go and modify the location document to do this.
The only thing I can think of to prevent it, is to use the option in the Policies to not allow custom location documents. I have not used this feature and I do not know what it does or how it looks to the end user.
I am successfully using policies for many other parts of the client to standardize settings.
NOTE: I have only seen this in the environment I am currently working in. I wonder if yours is similar in design. We use a separate SMTP gateway and SPAM filtering that means our Domino servers do not directly interface to the Internet. I wonder if maybe this makes this issue more pronounced.
