Internal server address in profile

Hi I’ve been having a problem while setting up Lotus Notes Traveler, since version 8.5.1 (not 100% on that).

With the first versions of Lotus Traveler I was always able to setup the profile and everything with no hassle at all, but after one of the latest updates we’ve been having a very particular connection problem; which is the following:

The installation profile for Apple products is setting the server’s internal address in the server field at the profile. This causes us to get the following error when accessing the mail:

“Cannot Get Mail - The connection to the server failed”

In order to resolve this we have to change the Fully Qualified Domain Name in the Traveler’s Server Document to the external domain, and even then the connection doesn’t work until you connect locally to the server and perform the first synchronization. Once you have performed the first sync everything starts working from then on.

We’ve been having this issue at the office, and all of our customer have been getting the same issue as well.

Is this by design? or is there a fix coming to resolve this?

Thank you

Subject: RE: Internal server address in profile

What do you have for the External URL on the Lotus Traveler tab? That is what Traveler will use to fill in the Apple.xml file server address. If that isn’t set, it will use the local server name (which it sounds like it is doing in your case).

Also, between 8.5.1 and 8.5.2, Traveler changed to using the External URL to be consistent with Apple Domino encrypted mail support. But if it wasn’t set, the default got filled in using the first user in (internal or external) and then cached. In 8.5.1, it was on a per request basis. In 8.5.2.1, this was changed back to being on a per request basis. So, either update to 8.5.2.1 or set the External URL. If that doesn’t resolve it, you’ll need to open a PMR so that we can get more information.
