Internal mail routing very slow - 7 hours!?!?!

Hi,

Have got some problems with internal mail routing - it sometimes take up to 7 hours to deliver a mail… Have been through the whole configuration but ain’t able to find out what is causing the problem.

The problem is between the two clustered mail servers. Primary (Sev1) mail server is a Domino 6.5.4FP2, the clustered server (Sev2) is release 7.0.1. The servers are connected with a crossover cable and a separate port has been configured for the heartbeat/cluster replication (server names have been renamed). Ports and Notes Networks carry the same names:

Sev1

Sev2

A connecting document between the servers has been created (even this is not required for internal mail routing as long the servers are in the same Notes Network and Domino Domain - as I understand it…):

In some Person Documents is the mail file pointed to the second mail server, Sev2. Other users are having their mail files stored on the primary mail server, Sev1. Mail are received from our gateway (virus check and spam check) and then transferred to Sev1 via SMTP. Below is a message delivered to me (received by Sev1) - (Domino console log on Sev1):

01/17/2007 15:31:05 SMTP Server: Message 004FBF89 (MessageID: 9640727C37D7CA4A82F54FC320F7F909DDD4DE@RUDKFIL4.rukoeb.dk) received from gate.myd.de (193.174.142.72) size 1230804 bytes

Above indicates that Domino has received the mail. Further down in the log do I find the same mail (ID) being transferred to Sev2

01/18/2007 00:00:12 Router: Message 004FBF89 transferred to SEV2Notesserver2/Cert for Kjeld Vang Larsen/Cert@DominoDomain from tlj@langk.dk Size: 884K via Notes

As you see is the mail first transferred to Sev2 after 7.5 hours!!!

No compact, fixup, updall, indexer, backup is running and blocking the databases. No network problems have been found.

Can anyone help me here - what is causing this huge delay in the mail transfer??

Looking forward for some help.

Cheers,

Kjeld

What output do you get if you run the command:

tell router show queues

on SRV1… While the mail is in route ?

Normally this command will show you pending messages, and any reason for the mails pending - eg. the server is not responding…

I should add… I expect that the “missing” e-mail is visible in mail.box on SRV1 - right ?
