Insufficient Memory - ON CLIENT - Help?

Using 6.5.1 Client on Win2k SP3 - Machine is a P3-1000 with 1GB of RAM.

When opening any windows like Mail Tools, Rules, Follow-Up, etc. - only some of the text is listed, no choices are able to be made, and in the bottom left in the status bar it says “Insufficient Memory” - Not able to make/create signature, mail rules, change/add/remove follow-up flags, among other things. Have not seen this behavior on any other machine in the company - RAM is not the issue, at any time the most used memory on the machine is 400MB out of a possible 1.8G (including swap file) - have tried uninstalling and re-installing client to a different location, as well as completely removing/deleting all references to the client, rebooting and then re-installing into a different location to no avail.

Anyone who has any insight as to what this problem could be due to, please let me know - the only searchable results on this site indicate all server error messages, nothing to do with the client.

Thanks in advance.

Christopher - I have a user experiencing this very same issue w/ a Notes 6.5.2 client. Did you ever get an answer to this one? Anything you can suggest? Seems to be a low memory issue where certain Notes-related dialog boxes appear incomplete, especially ones that contain radio buttons. My user is also having issues when printing, red box crashes and garbled print outs… thanks in advance for any advice.

Christopher,

If it’s always the same user and the problem only appears after he has been working for a while, it could be due to the following reason:

Notes only allows a certain number of open windows within Notes. I think 255 or something like that. If a user never closes any mail or database he has opened, Notes will produce the error message “insufficient memory”.

This usually happens to former Outlook users who are not used to work with a tab oriented application…

We have users that get same error “Insufficient memory”, they also do a lot of copy and paste into a rich text field but we can’t find an exact root cause, thanks for any help
