Hi Can someone help. This is driving me mad.
Im following the procedures outlined in the redbooks for customising the installation of the lotus client. I want to add our own bookmark to the install. However, i can work out how to drag the bookmark.ntf into the data folder on the files subdirectory under Target system configuration. Its driving me mad.
Can someone help? Surely it cant be this hard.

Unfortunately, it isn’t as straightforward as we’d all like. I figured it out after the Redbook and some trial and error on a test system. I did this with 6.01 so i cannot comment on if it works with 6.5 as i’m not at rollout stage yet.I am doing exactly what you are doing, replacing the bookmark.ntf with one we’ve modified. You’ve got the Installshield tuner application running i assume (see the Redbook).
In the Tuner Client you go to the Target System Configuration section =>Files. Go to the frame with “Destination Computer” and go to this path:
ProgramFilesFolder=>Lotus=>Notes=>Data=>VDIR_SHARED. In that folder you will see the default bookmark.ntf file (the one that is in the CAB file). What you do is drag your own bookmark.ntf file from the top right pane down to the directory mentioned above (middle pane). It should prompt you if you want to replace the bookmark.ntf file. After you do this, you should see your bookmark.ntf in the bottom right pane (check the modified date). That should do it assuming you save the MST file and use the correct command line when you run setup.

Excellent. Thats what im after.I will test this out and see if it works on 6.5
This has always been a problem with domino documentation. Its never quite accurate enough.

Subject: Minor Correction to what I said
Hi, I edited my prior post to correct an error. When you drag your custom bookmark.ntf from the top right pane in the Installshield Tuner, you drop in in the folders pane (bottom middle). You don’t drop it onto the files pane (bottom right). It took me a lot of trial and error and some luck to figure out this subtle difference. You will know you did it right if you are prompted if you want to replace the bookmark.ntf with your new one.
I also just tried this with a Notes 6.5 test rollout and it worked bee-u-teeffully.
Now I got to figure out how to convert those dozen of multi-user installs that a fellow administrator rolled out by accident into single user installs. I think it means playing with the registry. Wish me luck.

Phew… thanks Roland… you just solved a major headache, two years later!

I think this is a bug in the Tuner. Drop the bookmark into one of the subfolders under the Data directory. Your best bet is in VDIR_SHARED. This is not a real directory, just a virtual one. Your file will still get installed into the regular data directory on the Target machine.
