I received a LN 6.5 CD with a desktop I purchased. I want to install it so I can read mail files from where I work. I was told the notes.ini file goes into the Notes directory and the actual data goes into the notes/data directory. Where in the install process do I need to do this or can it be done post install?

If you install as an Administrator, your INI and data should wind up where they are supposed to be during the install. (If you install as an ordinary user, your data is going to wind up in C:\Documents and Settings.…) If you have an existing INI file, you can use Windows Explorer to drop the existing file into the Notes program directory and replace the one that the install creates. Same thing with the data – any existing databases you want to (and are allowed to) bring home can be dropped into the data directory, replacing the ones the install/setup might create.

Also these directory settings are in the notes.ini file - effectively you can put the data directory and ID anywhere you can get to providing the notes.ini file has the correct entries.
