Installalling Additional Domino Server

I am trying to install an additional server to the existing domino domain over the WAN. I have done all that is required in terms of

  1. Creating the Server document on the Primary server

  2. Added the additional server into the ACL of Names.nsf which has full access (Manager) with all roles enabled.

  3. FQDN was successfully added to one of the additional configuration step.

  4. Tried to choose it as Configuration directory (Also Tried to make it primary directory )

When clicked on the setup button (Final Step) the process gets past 85% and when replicating the names.nsf it removes all the documents from the primary server and my primary server names.nsf is blank. Had to resore it from the latest backup and got stuck unable to proceed further.

Can anyone guide me on where I am make the mistake?

Thanks in advance.

Deleting documents from the master DD? That adds a new flavor to this common problem.

Do a search for “85%” on this forum, and you will be surprised. Common resolution fro the “regular” 85% problem seems to be to add the new server with user type unspecified instead of server.

Good luck.

Subject: RE: Installalling Additional Domino Server

Keep the additional server as Author in the names.nsf ACL without the delete and modify rights and then do the installation. In this way, even if something goes wrong, your primary names.nsf will not be harmed.

Also, make sure that the additional server is installed with primary directory as the installation option.

Thanks for pointing that out! It worked out fine. I had done the following

  1. Added the additional server entry into the ACL of Main server’s Names.nsf, with all the roles only to create (No modify roles enabled)

  2. Removed from the localdomainservers group

  3. During the configuration step od additional server I set it as Primary directory.

Now the server has been sucessfully setup the names.nsf was replicated without creating any problems with the main server. However, the admin4.nsf (Administration request) did not replicate, I could see from the additional server Domino console that it treats that admin4.nsf as wild card replica and it is yet to be initialized (Probably waiting for the next replication schedule to comlete the replication)

  1. There was a connection document created during the setup process on the additional server’s Names.nsf. I enabled the replication for without any specific files or folders (Basically All of common databases & Templates to be replicated between the servers)

  2. Added the New server into the LocalDomainServers group, so that admin4.nsf can do the replication with the main server

  3. In the Names.nsf I still have the new server with author access? Is this ok

Is anything need to be further performed , kindly highlight if anything missing

With regards
