Inquiry about Quota Policies

Hi,

I would love to hear feedback on what other organizations (especially educational institutions) are doing for mail management. We currently are not enforcing archiving or quotas but some clients are clearly abusing the situation. Many have mail files between 1Gig - 7Gig!

Are you enforcing quotas and if so, what is your mailfile quota?

Are you forcing archival and if so, what cutroff date are you using to archive old stuff?

Thanks!

Dennis

Subject: Inquiry about Quota Policies

At my company I have set 3 levels of quotas. 200MB for new employees which is sufficient for most positions. 500 MB for people who need to keep certain attachments or get an increased amount of mail over the other employees due to their job duties. 1GB for executives and a few select people. The 1GB is very limited. Imposing quotas on people who did not have to worry about them before is difficult at first because some of the people have very large mail files and don’t feel like they have the time to go through them. One thing that has helped me is developing a document that explains to them some tips to reduce their mail file size and also explains the benefits of it to them and the company as a whole. Good luck
