Guys, Gals…Is there any way that i can increase the performance of iNotes over the internet i.e. from and internet cafe for dial-up.
Does 6.5 help solve all this?
IF so, does anyone have any bench marks?

senario as follows:
some of our customers are running iNotes 6.0.1 and 6.0.2 and even 5.0.11 over and apache reverse proxy with ssl
every single one of them are constantly complain about the shocking performance of iNotes over a 33.6k or 56k modem dial-up. OVer DSL it runs like a dream.
Sometimes they can not even get an initial inbox screen until 10 minutes time, but it does vary. This has been quite poor, i know that sacrifices do come into play when we talk about looks and features, diffinitely not putting iNotes down.
We have been doing heaps of tests with the standard mail template vs iNotes template, i can not find much difference in speed and performance after it gets cached within the web browser.

You are really asking a lot of a weak modem connection. While 10 minutes seems excessive, it certainly won’t improve to what most people will feel is reasonable. You’re running encrypted packets of large Java applets to people connecting at speeds that are only acceptable for rendering basic web pages. I think your answer is multi-faceted. You need to get to a newer release of the template. That will help. But you also need to get as many people on broadband as possible. For the remaining dial-up users, you need to either manage expectations or try to get them an alternate solution, such as an old webmail template.

One thing we noticed regarding performance was that after implementing the Single Copy Template (SCT) feature INotes response time was much quicker. This is because without SCT, objects were cached on the server individually for each mail user. With SCT, on object is only cached on the server once and re-used by all users connecting to the server.

thanks heaps guys for all your responses…SCT sounds really good, i will try and SCT first and if fails, i will upgrade the server to 6.0.2 CF2 or go straight to 6.0.3…
