iNotes outbound and multiple SMTP domains

I have a single server hosting three small non-profit orgs, A.ORG, B.ORG, C.ORG. I have individual address books linked using directory assistance, and person documents whose inet address is appropriate to each (johndoe@a.org, mary@b.org, etc).

I have a single Global Domain doc for A.ORG, and internet domain aliases for B.ORG and C.ORG, as well as config doc with all mail settings in place (including exhaustive lookup for internet addresses in MIME outbound tab).

Situation: all users receive mail to their inet addresses without error. All users reply to this mail in the Notes client without error, and those replies are received at their destination with the correct address (that specified in the person document of each user, such as johndoe@a.org).

BUT when a user of inet domain alias b.org logs in to mail via the web (iNotes 60), and sends a message to the same destination, it is received as mary_doe@a.org.

Ugh. I have searched this DB heavily, but haven’t found the right keywords yet…! Why is iNotes bypassing the person document? How can I force it to complete its lookup, and resolve the person’s internet address as specified? I tried moving the same person to the primary domino directory, hoping it was a directory assistance issue, but without success.

Glad to supply any add’l information necessary to figure this one out! Don’t want to go to a hosted environment for very small orgs!

thanks much

Subject: iNotes outbound and multiple SMTP domains

I answer my own question:

In the person document, I had switched the fully-distinguished name (Mary Whatever/B/Domain) to be the second entry in the list, and the common name to be first. In Notes R5 this was necessary for logon using the common name over the web (to iNotes or other databases)(or maybe my config was wrong, who knows).

Anyway, when I switched this back to the “correct” order (distinguished first, then common), and RESTARTED THE SERVER FROM THE CONSOLE, it worked fine… whew.
