I have people wanting to drag emails (in iNotes) into a calendar document “like you can in Outlook” - ![]()
I know that in a Notes client, you can use “Copy into New Clanedar Entry” but I dont see that on the iNotes interface?

Subject: iNotes issue… ALSO… Opening Other People’s Calendars a REAL SORE ISSUE
This is a very sore subject… we cannot put our Administrative Assistants on iNotes, until they can not only OPEN, but also POST appointments to their boss’ calendars…>!
Subject: RE: iNotes issue… ALSO… Opening Other People’s Calendars a REAL SORE ISSUE
why don’t you use regural notes client?
Subject: corporate decission
it has been a corporate decission here to move MANY people to iNotes instead of Notes Client due to the cost of licenses… we have 1300 users on Notes… and climbing all the time… it is much more cost effective for a bulk of them to be on iNotes.

Ruth,
I can see your point most of us is in the same boat where you have to explain users why they have to use this software but not another… but if decision is influenced by cost then I would say “You get what you paid for” and I’m not trying to argue here with you.
I’m reading between the lines and looks like your users were using outlook previously, what’s force you change it… is 1300 Outlook CALs cheaper then 1300 Notes licenses?
Anyway functionality you are looking for is not there, also if you have clients on XP SP2 with latest security updates from MS for IE 6 you also looking drag and drop functionality in iNotes

sorry, I meant “loosing”
Subject: RE: corporate decission
Are you saying that in IE6 there IS Drag&drop functionality in iNotes?
Subject: RE: corporate decission
DWA (iNotes) has “some” drag&drop functionality i.e. you can drag email from you Inbox and drop it to trash folder (not sure if this is what you looking for, since you mentioned calendar previously)… going back to my previous post I said that recent patches from MS are removing this functionality since they are blocking some DHTML operations which are used by iNotes, see this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887614
hope this help

Subject: iNotes issue… what happened to “Copy Into Calendar Entry”?
Question for you, when you saying “like you can do in Outlook” you mean Microsoft Outlook which is part of the MS Office or you talking about Outlook Web Access?

MicroSoft Outlook.
We are still battling features that the regular Outlook has, that Notes doesn’t

You cannot compare MS Outlook with iNotes these are to different animals… iNotes is web browser based piece of software so if you would like to compare to Microsoft mail client compare its functionality to Outlook Web Access (OWA) instead, and on the other hand you can compare Lotus Notes client to MS Outlook… regarding your question iNotes, as far as I know does not have this functionality, but this is common for any messanging system that web based piece of it is limited see following link for ms outlook

in terms of you battle, well this links may help you

Personally I have a lot more expiriance working with Exchnage/Outlook (happend now I’m working with notes) and you will not hear from me how good notes is or opposite how outlook is great… they just different, and you will find people going both directions base on their personal preferences/business/politics/…

Subject: iNotes issue… different animals
As far as your statement of “MS Outlook with iNotes these are to different animals” - I already know this… however this does NOT help when users are themselves comparing the features in order to determine which to use. You are arguing technicalities, and users are arguing usability. (Two different animals indeed)As far as the charts… yes I can see the differences. It’s a good chart to have. However I doubt it will win the fight against a true Microsoft person.
