Hi,
I have a attachment with chinese characters in a received mail.
- If I use the Lotus Notes 8.5 client I can save this attachment on my desktop.
File name is displayed with readable characters.
-
If I use the Inotes client I get this message.
Error: Unable to download file “购买打印机电汇事宜.doc” from “mailserver”
At the sametime this is logged on the mail server.

You are right Brandon, here is an answer:

Subject: just in inotes?
if you upload the same attachment to a different database, like a team roomare you able to download it from there, or do you see the same problem
might also want to try using the webmail ui
its a little clunkier but may help act as a workaround if successfull
append ?opendatabase&ui=webmail to the inotes url
http://server.domain.com/mail/mailfile.nsf?opendatabase&ui=webmail
Subject: just in inotes?
Hello , I have just appened the webmail instruction in my mail in my own browser, but that gives me the old webmail interface , not iNotes,it seems like is another problem, because in this building iNotes works fine!.

Subject: just in inotes?
Hello, I’m administering the mail system from an entire enterprise in Mexico, we recently upgraded to Domino 8.5. I am having the same problem, but just in other buildings here in the site’s building works fine. and Yes, the problem is just in INotes, in other applications seems to download OK.Please tell me the places where I have to append the webmail instrucction you said, in order to correctly configure my mail system.
Subject: A thing to check for
It appears that the server is located in Mexico, while Chinese characters are in use. First thing to check in such environment (though you may have done it already) is making sure the Domino server serves up its web contents in UTF-8. The setting is in Internet Protocols - Domino Web Engine tab in server document.
Best regards,

Subject: UTF-8 test
Our server is located in Belgium, while Chinese characters are in use for your sales people in Hong-Kong and Shenzhen.
I have put the Domino Web Engine to UTF-8
Use UTF-8 for output
Use UTF-8 for HTML forms
But still the same,
Error: Unable to download ‘*******.doc’ from “http://…”
Ps. the ********.doc should be chicese characters but I only see square characters
