iNotes Contacts

I need to copy all the contacts and groups in Domino Directory to iNotes Contacts. I can’t use the local Address Book because all the users uses only iNotes and not the Lotus Notes Client. I need to schedule this too, in order the users have always the current contacts list. Any idea?

If I understand your question properly, it appears that you want to duplicate all the person records from your Domino directory into each user’s own personal contacts. Normally the personal contacts are for just that, names of people unique to the individual, not the company’s internal employees. If you want to address someone from your company, just choose their name (s) from the Domino directory, not from the personal address book.

For example, within IBM I certainly do not copy all our employees into my contacts, instead I just pick a name from one of our directories.

Yes, I want to duplicate all the person records from our Domino directory into each user’s own personal contacts! Many users use iNotes in off-line mode and in this mode the Domino Directory is not accessible. Is there a way to use the Domino Directory when iNotes is in off-line mode?

Subject: iNotes offline use of Directory Catalog

From the Admin Help DB

You can use a NOTES.INI variable, $DOLSDirectoryCatalog, to set the name of a Domino directory that the user may take offline. This setting makes a part of the interface visible in the user’s preferences, giving users the option of taking the server’s directory catalog or Domino directory offline.

For example, if NOTES.INI contains $DolsDirectoryCatalog=dc.nsf, the user sees a new preference setting, “Include server’s Name and Address Book”. If the user enables this setting, the server’s directory catalog will be included among the files when the user goes offline.
