Inotes and address book synch wierdness

I’m kinda confused about what is happening here, hoping someone can help me sort it out.

I am testing a Notes 6.01 client against a Domino 5.010 server. (I know this isn’t the recommended way to upgrade, but we have our reasons, of which I won’t bore you.) I have this client opening my mail database on the 5.010 server. So far, so good. Now, I want to test the inotes contacts synchronization, so I choose the option from the Actions menu. The box comes up that says nothing was sent, nothing received, but in the status bar there are some error messages, as follows:

Could not find view (iNotesContacts)

iNotes Web Access Synchronization finished abnormally

From my Notes R5 client I can do this synchronization sucessfully.

Now, when I open my mail database and look, I see a view called (iNotes_Contacts). (Note the view the error message said it was looking for was (iNotesContacts), without the _). If I copy that to another view called (iNotesContacts), then run the synch on the Notes 6 client, it works perfectly! I don’t really understand where Domino 6 is getting involved in this process, but why does it work on the 5 client and not on the 6 client?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mary

Subject: Contacts Synchronization Utility

I have a freely available Contacts Synchronization Tool specifically for this purpose. It is much friendlier and contains more functionality than the standard Lotus Synchronization option. It synchronizes people, groups and maintains contact categorisations.
