iNotes addressing problem

Hi,

I encountered a strange issue in iNotes.

One of the users has an entry in his address book, say “firstname@somedomain.com” In our secondary address book, there is a user with the same first name, say “firstname.lastname@otherdomain.com”.

Now, when he addresses a mail from iNotes to that first person, it gets routed to the other person, even when he types the address manually.

This only happens in iNotes, not in the Notes client. I checked this out today, and am quite stumped. (especially since that other person is one of the notables in the city …)

I searched the forums, but didn’t find anything about this.

Any help would be much appreciated,

thanx,

Koen Bachot

Subject: iNotes addressing problem

Hi, I have experienced a similar problem:

In the secondary address book (Directory assistance), among other, I have the two users with completely different names but both e-mail begin the same

ac@olive-sistems.com

acaimi@goodsight.com

We are using 6.5.1IF1 server.

When sending mail to the first address, it gets routed to the second one (another customer in another company!!!) ONLY from iNotes !!!

It gets routed ok from Lotus Notes client!

As you can see, both addreses begin with ‘ac’, and this is the only similarity I have found (names and usernames are completely different).

I solved it deleting all the dessign elements from the database having this secondary directory and replacing the dessign with the pubnames.ntf template.

It happened againg exactly the same a few days later, I solved in exactly the same way.

I has not happened again (two weeks now), but I have not idea why it happened or if it’ll happen again.

Hope it helps,

J R

Koen, Not sure if this will help, but it looks like notes uses the format “firstname@somedomain.com” in the recipients field, where inotes ends up with “firstname@somedomain.com”. Seems bugworthy, but in the interests of a quick fix can you just add <>'s to the address book entry?:-jmw

John,

the quick fix method appears to work, thanx!

Mails get sent to the correct recipient now.

Not sure why this happens, but I’m glad it’s solved.

To recap: I simply added “<” and “>” to the PAB mail address entry.

J R : your solution didn’t work for me, but thanx anyway
