I am very new to Lotus/Domino but was given the project of testing the upgrade from 4.6 to 6.0.1. All has gone great however I do have a question about users accessing notes via iNotes. It appears that I have to register each user and at that point give them iNotes for the mail option. Is this true? Do I need to re-register users? And if so, how can I avoid losing their current database? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Yuo can upgrade the mail files for the existing users by using the “load convert mail*.nsf std46mail inotes60.ntf” command at the server console. You will need to make sure that your Noets clients are upgraded before doing this, otherwise they will recevie many errors when trying to access the 6.0.1 mail template with a 4.6 notes client.

You would not nedd to re-register the users - just convert their mail file. The iNotes registration option is for new users and it’s more of a convenience because it fills in a few other options at registration (like iNotes template, no ID, etc…)

Michele, I tried to reply to your email but it bounced back saying you are not in the address book. Here is my reply:
I haven’t seen that before.
Are you encrypting your outgoing messages? (This can be set to happen automatically in your preferences). I think that encryption for iNotes didn’t work until 6.0.1.

Hi Greg,
I hope you don’t mind me sending an email with another question for
you. You were very helpful with my iNotes setup so I’m hoping you
can help with this.
It appears that whenever I send an email or reply to an email, that
the body is empty on the recipients end. I can view that same email
and the body is visible. Any ideas?
Thanks so much
