Inotes 9.0.1 opening attachment in preview pane only allows save

Hi Everyone

I have had an issue reported to me where a user using inotes tries to open an attachment in the inotes preview pane, all they get is save. If they open the email and then click the attachment, they get the opportunity to open the attachment (as well as save).

In proving this:

  • I have confirmed this with several versions of Internet Explorer and Java 6.18 (these is the only browser / java “we” support).
  • Tried different user accounts and still the problem exists.
  • Against an 8.5.x server as well as 9.0.1 and the issue is a 9.0.1 server issue.
  • The mail template is an 8.5.x mail template
  • It is the normal inotes client (not lite for example)
  • I have searched the forums and IBM tech support site and can find nothing.
    TL:DR In inotes email preview they can’t open the attachment.

If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

The activex attachment control is not invoked when using the preview pane in iNotes on IE. This is why the user does not have the option to open the attachment. An enhancement request (TMAI8MQDY5)was created to add this functionality to iNotes but currently this functionality is not available.

We could suggest opening a pmr with us and having an engineer add your additional interest onto the existing associated enhancement request spr to add weight on it’s interest of being supplied as a feature in a new/upgraded release.
