We are in the process of rolling out Notes 8.5.I’m using smartupgrade to upgrade the clients, and I’ve started upgrading my servers.
I’ve found that if a user has an 8.5 template, but still has an 8.0 server, iNotes is almost non functional. It’s purely text, like the DWA part of the template has no effect.
Is this right? Have I done something wrong?
it’ll obviously be fixed a a couple of weeks once I’ve rolled out 8.5 servers everywhere, but until then is there anything I can do aside from dropping users back to mail8?

When a newer template is encountered on an older Domino server, iNotes should display the iNotes UI associated with the default template for that particular Domino server version. In this case you should be seeing the mail8 user experience for iNotes/DWA.
However, there is a DWA issue that we discovered with the mail85 template on the Domino 8 server which results in this failing, and instead you are seeing the old mail experience which was known as WebMail. This problem has been fixed in Domino 8.0.2.
If running on a Domino 8.0.0 or 8.0.1 server, please obtain the latest cumulative fixpack for DWA from IBM support. You can mention you need the fix for SPR: RAGG7CTMVQ
