Hi all,
Recently we upgraded our mail template from 7.0.2 to 8.5.1. It’s working well with Notes client. However, it looks there is the Chinese font compatible issue with iNotes when using Chinese version of IE whether IE7 or IE8.
When open iNotes with Chinese IE, the “Mail-inbox” icon will be displayed as “邮…”. The “New Message” tab will be displayed as “新建:&@28040;息”.
When closing new message window, the pop-up message “Are you sure you want to close this document? You will lose any unsaved edites.” can’t be dispalyed normally too with the code like above.
Except the tab name and pop-up message cotent, the other one like folder name(Inbox, sent…etc) and the “preference”/“Logout” menu are dispaly with Chinese normal.
We are using one customized mail template which based on StdR85Mail(8.5.1version). I also tried to replace the design to StdR85Mail and got the same result.
The test on Chinese FireFox 3.6 was made and the result was same with Chinese IE.
Appreciate for your inputting.
Regards,
Thomas
Subject: Character set
Hi Thomas,
Beginning 8.5 release, iNotes looks at browser’s language setting to switch the language of UI automatically. It means that you’ll see Chinese iNotes UI if you use Chinese browser. Showing Chinese UI or Chinese content requires server’s character set to be able to handle Chinese language. It can be done either by enabling “Use UTF-8 for output”, or changing the default character set group to Chinese, in the server document.
If you have no control over sever setting somehow, you can work it around by changing browser’s language setting.
Best regards,
Subject: changing client IE ecode not helpful. Will try change server setting later.
Thanks Akira!
Forgot to mention that I had ever tried to change the encode of client IE from Chinese to UTF-8 but it was not working. Suppose the reason is that “UTF-8 output” was not enabled on the server.
I will try to change the default character set to Chinese soon and update the process with you.
Thanks again!
Best regards,
Thomas
