Our users are complaining of extreme slowness, so while researching the logs, I noticed the following message … repeatedly… practically every time a view is opened.
Informational, rebuilding view - no container or index
I am trying to determine what the problem is as this rebuild can take upwards of an hour and stops users from working in the view. I understand when new documents are added, or perhaps the data in the document is changed in the view, it needs to rebuild the index. Also, we have a few (not many) people who use the database through replication and I understand this may cause the problem, but I don’t see the replicating users on very often.
This database has quite a bit of activity. Any suggestions on how I can reduce the rebuild time, or limit how often it does it? Or help me understand what it might be doing that is causing the frequent activitiy? The users cannot afford to be sitting watching a white screen (that says they can work on something else while rebuilding) for 5-60 minutes at a time. Note, even though it says they can work on something else, their Notes still slows down moving to another database.
Any suggestions you may have would be appreciated.
