My question is about the server document:

General- routing task

we can choose:

  • mail routing

  • SMTP mail routing

  • X400 mail routing

  • ccmail mail routing.

( sorry, my notes server is a french one, so I do not know if my traduction is good)

Could you tell what is SMTP mail routing?

What is the difference between this parameter and the parameter below “listenning SMTP” enable?

This means the server is running as an SMTP gateway. The listener task only handle smtp mails to or from an SMTP gateway.

Is it necessary to use this parameter to configure SMTP.

Looking at the help database, to configure SMTP in and out, we need only the parameters:

  • “listenner task” in server document (in)

  • “SMTP used for sending messages…” in the configuration document.

on which cases do you use this parameter “routing task” of the server document?

…only if you want to use this server as a SMTP Gateway to the internet. If you have a other Internet mail gateway, servers have to know the name and the IP to that gateway to deliver SMTP mails to the internet
