When sending messages using iNotes the field InetFrom get populated with a period (.)This prevents me (or anyone at my company) from sending email outside our company using inotes. Hotmail for instance replies with
Error transferring to mx3.HOTMAIL.COM; SMTP Protocol Returned a Permanent Error 501 Invalid Address
The router isnt the bad guy here. If I shut it down and send a memo the inetfrom is already there.
When using inotes6.ntf as template everything works alrigt, also when using web client with ui=webmail style or sending it using the notes client.
This behaviour started after upgrade from domino 5.0.10(/11)-6.0.3
Subject: RE: InetFrom contains only period (.) from iNotes
Hello Martin,
Thanks for helping me.
I must say I’ve tested everything mentioned as a solution to similar problems like;
(of the smtp config doc)
Setting mime/conversion options/outbound/lookup internet addr. to enabled
Setting mime/advanced/advaced outbound…/RFC822 to CN
Adding InetFrom to mime/advanced/advaced outbound…/Notes intems to be removed from headers
Nothing helps
Because we’re using a customized inotes5 template based on 5.0.11 I switched back to lotus own 6.3 inotes5-template without success.
Then I tried using the 6.0.3 inotes6 template which was successful!
Therefore I think the problem lies in the forms5.nsf. I’ve tried searching all the forms in this db for a way to remark or erase the way inetfrom get created/populated without success.
My final solution was a workaround:
Since we´re lucky to use a third party product (IQ.suite) I configured a job to remove the field InetFrom from memos where it contained just a period (.)
If anyone ever learns the real solution for this (or can confirm it’s a bug) then please post it here.
