Incorrect Reply address when sending mail externally using SMTP

My Problem like many peoples’s so it seems on this thread is that when mails are sent out externally of our domain via smtp is that any entry in the cc field that has an internal address is being sent out incorrectly so when recipients reply they are receiving an incorrect mail address that never reaches the recipient.

For instance

random.target@openlogic.co.uk ends up becoming random_target/openlogic/uk@openlogic.co.uk

I’ve seen many threads with this same problem. All pointing to the global domain document and ensuring the internet address lookup is enabled.

This is enabled and we only started to have this problem after we upgraded from 6.5.1 to 7.02FP2

Has anybody any working solutions for this problem? I’ve read virtually all of this forum trying to find the problem but only ever find threads with no resolution.

Thanks in advance

Hi,I found a solution in an earlier response (see link below), which is to clear the domain field in the person document - dunno if there are any draw backs thogh. Suppose you also need to fill in the local primary internet domain field under Messaging - Domains - InternetGlobal - Conversions

Thanks for the help but all those settings are already as you have configured them.

The format in the external recipients cc field is still like this:

“Matt.Wheeler/openlogic/uk” Matt.Wheeler/openlogic/uk@openlogic.co.uk;

There’s no problem with the from field, “Matt Wheeler” Matt.Wheeler@openlogic.co.uk; only the cc or bcc fields.

A very frustrating problem, as I believe that all the settings in the global config are correct as are all the mime settings.

Currently I’m having to ask all my users to type in the internet address in the cc fields if they plan on sending out any external mails.

this problem it seems to your company’s internet addresses.RFC format is not allowed in local-part period. (.)

you will try to change character.

Did you also check that all users have an internet address specified in their person documents?

Yes, all users have internet addresses setup, this is something we always do upon registration of users.
