Hi, does anyone know if you set incoming SMTP mail to match full name only whether you can then add a full address as an alias in the person doc? Or will it only match on the internet address field? We want to set this full name lookup but have a lot of aliases in the address book (sales uk etc etc )Many thanks for any help, Anne

Just made the experience last week. Full name match does only look in the “Internet address” field for an exact match. Exact match meaning that it will refuse the incoming message if the domain name doesn’t match or the separator is underscore instead of a period.
The router doesn’t check for short names or aliases either.

Hi Patrick, thanks for quick response. Thats a blow though, did you have any need to use mail aliases? I can’t think of a way around it apart from creating a mail-in database for every instance - then setting them to alert the alias person when there’s new mail. And we have a lot of aliases so hope there’s another way!

It IS a blow, that’s why we had to revert back to “Local part only” address lookup. Our default firstname/lastname separator is underscore, but lots of people here communicate their address with the dot separator.
If you use aliases you’re better off keeping the “Local part only” address lookup since you can’t change the router’s behaviour.
