Incoming email formatting being lost

Hi All

Incoming emails in users’ mail DB loose formatting. Some users get the word [IMAGE] instead of the image itself.

Outgoing emails from Notes Client, to an Internet address also do not keep the formatting. Outgoing e-mails from iNotes to an Internet address DO keep the formatting.

There must be some setting on the Notes Client or on the mail DB or the person document in the address book, which is causing the formatting for incoming and outgoing being lost.

We are using R6 client, R6 server.

In the location settings we have “Notes Rich Text Format” for “Format for message addressed to Internet”.

Person documents on the address book, we have “Keep sender’s format” for “Format for incoming emails”. While searching thru the “Notes/Domino 4 and 5 Forum”, found a few postig which suggest to change this setting to “No Preference”, but in R6, there is no option to change this to “No Preferences”.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

in the location document, change the ‘Format for messages addressed to internet addresses’ to ‘MIME Format’.

if the Person documents are configured to ‘Keep Sender’s Format’ for ‘Format for incoming emails’, then you should not see [IMAGE] placeholders rather than the images. (‘Keep in Sender’s Format’ was called ‘No Preference’ in R5.)

are you routing through any R4.x servers or are your users using an R4.x Notes client to open the documents? do you have ‘before mail arrives’ agents running that update the documents? do you have any third party programs (i.e., addins) running which update the documents?

if a program opens a mime document without specifying the proper flags on the NSFNoteOpen call agent opens a mime document without setting the session’s ConvertMIME property to False, then an ‘implicit’ mime->notes rich text conversion is done.
