I have a user who’s inbox shows they have 95 messages that haven’t been read. It says Inbox(95), but there are only actually 5 new emails in there, all from today. His inbox only contains about 20 messages, he has one folder set up, and I’ve checked through that and the All Documents View and can’t find any “red” messages, other then the 5 new ones in his inbox. I don’t know how to fix the number to only show exactly what hasn’t been read. I’m not sure why it thinks there are 95 messages.
Subject: Inbox shows wrong # of unread
was this mail file upgraded from r5 mail design to r6 ?We had this issue
after upgrade, unread marks needed to be reset

We have the same problem to our VP yesterday. We are using R6.5.4 FP 3.
Lucky he had only 3 unread marks in his inbox, and allowed us to reset it to 0.
Here is an article from IBM about this issue:

I think IBM Lotus must fix this bug.
We can not reset the unread number to 0, evertime when user is having this problem.
Imagine if user has > 50 personal folders, each of them has correct unread mark, only in Inbox folder got problem.
Can you simply reset it to mark all read??

This happens in notes, the numbers of “unread” get screwed up on the view.
Just go to the users inbox and click on:
Edit, Unread Marks, Mark all Read. It will reset the number to zero, then they can change the 5 they haven’t read back to unread if they want.
