Inbox is showing incorrect number of unread emails

I think I’ve heard this is a bug, however, can anyone explain to me how this gets set. I’m asking because I was on the test group for the 6.5.1 client upgrade and for 2 months my inbox always showed the correct number of unread emails. Now, the new mail template was pushed out to the entire company (1900 users) and ever since, it shows I have two unread emails when I really don’t.

What is causing this to happen? And is there a fix for it? It is such a minor deal but it is bothering so many of our users because it is so obvious now.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Marlene

This only seems to happen to me if I experience a Notes crash.

I’m not sure if it’s the best way, but to resolve the descrepancy; I tell users to open the All Documents view and then Edit - Unread Marks - Mark All Read.

That seems to zero out everything and then new unread docs are accurately displayed.

Great! This worked. We do have four servers for all of our users, one primary and one failover. And I know when we failover, we receive the unread marks. I will pass your suggestion along for those having issues.Marlene.

HI,

There may be another way to resolve this. Have you tried exchanging the unread marks yet?

Basically you need to be on your users machine and inside the workspace. Ensure that you have both the primary and failover versions of the mail files unstacked. Now hold the shift key and select both mailfiles. Now navigate to “edit” then “unread marks” then click on “exchange unread marks”

This is supposed to synchronise them both to the same unread/ read marks. Worked for me!

Also, have you checked for other versions of mail files on the servers i.e. Old restores…
