Inaccessible Database Issue

I have a group of Notes databases that are accessed via the intranet using IE with Anonymous access. On occasion these databases will not open and return a browser error saying “unable to open database”

The same databases can be accessed via Lotus Notes, but when I try accessing them after a user tells me that they can not access them via IE I get a pop up error window stating “Network Operation did not complete in a reasonable amount of time, please try again”

If I open Admin and try going to the Server-Status-Database Users view my admin client locks up

The only way to free up these databases, that I know of, is to re-boot the server on which they reside.

Can anyone give me clue as to what would be causing this to happen? What can I do to stop this from happening?

Is there another way, I can try, to free up these databases without rebooting the server?

These databases have been around since Notes 4, but we are just now running into the “inaccessibility” issues on Notes 8.

All of our other databases have not been a problem.

Subject: Check Document Locking

We started experiencing a similar problem recently and we discovered that the ‘Document Locking’ option in the database properties was enabled. Once we disabled it things started working properly. We didn’t see this problem prior to 8.0.1.

It looks like it could be some sort of deadlock situation.

Subject: Document Locking?

If you mean the Database Property “Allow Document Locking”. None of these databases have this checked.

Should I check at some other level for any kind of “locking” property?

Thank you!

Would need some more information about this to move it forward:-Are these custom databases?

-What template are they created on?

-Are these large databases?

-Are there any error messages displayed in the Domino console when users have trouble accessing the database?
