also can append another value in authors field.

Hi Balaji

Are you want to change Authors of all collection at one go or setting it one by one?

In order to Set Authors Field you/user must have Author Access to document. And after you make changes using any method you need to set property of Author Field “IsAuthor” equal to true.

How to Change / Append value in Author field ?

  • it is same as you change value of multivalue text field. Use “AppendToTextList” method to append value.

I need to update the doc in collection in one go .can i use methods like updateall & stampall in authors field.

UpdateAll marks the documents. Stampall stamps the design elements. You cannot change a field with these methods. You need to loop thru document collection, get each document and update author’s field. This way you won’t miss any document in that collection.

set doc = col.GetFirstDocument

Do until doc is nothing

Set item = doc.GetFirstItem( “Authors” )

Call item.AppendToTextList( “AAAAA” )

Call doc.Save( False, True )

set doc = col.GetNextDocument(doc)

Loop

If you have too many documents in collection, you can get the collection using ViewEntryCollection, which will make faster processing when compared to DocumentCollection.
