Impossible? Dynamically order view (drag and drop)

Is this in any way possible to achieve?

Jobs are entered into Lotus Notes and move through the job tracking process. Once the job status is changed to "Released to Production’ they appear in a seperate view.

The production manager would like to be able to rearrange the order that they appear in the view, preferably by drag and drop. Right now all jobs are printed out and physically arranged in a bin.

I can’t think of anyway to make this happen accept to assign an order # field to the jobs and create actions (Move up and move) down. The actions would have the interate through the view, changing the order number as needed. Not very affecient, of at all practical.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks for the responses. I will thoroughly evalute my options and decide how to proceed.

Regrettably, the Notes client does not offer a way to execute code on dropping a document into a view it is already in; nor, if there were a way, would I consider it likely that you would be able to detect which row it was dropped “on.”

Of course, you could program this as a Java applet.

Do it on the web -

Jake has an excellent rough-draft of how:

Also,

The action method works well, at least for small views (10 - 20 items)

Just make sure you do it in LS (I’ve not found a formula method that would retain focus on the item originally selected).

If I get around to it (as opposed to the square and triangular varieties) I’ll post an example.
