Impact of changing the DAOS minimum attachment size

Greetings,

We are currently experiencing some performance issues with our backups, and in conversation with the backup software vendor it has become apparent that our DAOS configuration is contributing to our performance woes.

My question to the forum is this:-

If I change the “Minimum size of object before Domino will store in DAOS” value in the server document to a higher value (currently set to default), what, if any, other steps will I need to take to implement this change (I’m assuming at least a restart of DAOS), and what impact will it have on existing objects in the DAOS repository?

Any advice or opinion would be appreciated.

Subject: compact

If you do a compy style compact (compact -c) of the databases the new value will be used for the objects. All smaller object which were replaced by internal references to the .NLO files will be normal attachments again. The .NLO files will not automatically be removed (I think) and you would need to discard all unreferenced .NLO files with a “tell daosmgr purge #” command.
