IMAP and Relay rejection

I’ve been having issues getting the relay rejection policies to work properly. Having seen the volumes of traffic generated as soon as it’s known you use an open relay, I set the rejection to universal for relay destinations.

According to the server configuration document, however, you should be able to allow authenticated users to bypass that restriction. I’m using OE to access, via IMAP, to the server, yet it continues to reject the logins (both name@domain.org and Fully Qualified name logins) stating that the messages are rejected for policy reasons.

Has anyone gotten relay messages to stop while still allowing normal users to send?

Should work okay, sounds like a config issue. Can you post the relevant page of the config document as it took me a while sorting out the new security sections you now have available.

I have the same problem. If it’s supposed and known to work properly then please share the config. It seems to me like the user is never authenticated at least not as seen from the router/server and thus he is not allowed to relay.

Sure. This is the Router/SMTP → Restrictions and Controls → SMTP Inbound Controls page in two parts.

I had this problem and the way it was solved that in ms outlook modify the account to enable"my outgoing server requires authintication"and use same as my incoming mail server. in the more settings or advanced tab in outlook or outlook express.

I saw that happen, too: authenticated IMAP users were still rejected. I made an exception for 10.1.., since my IMAP users were all on the internal network.
