Does IM_DISABLED=1 to disable the embedded Sametime client no longer work at 9.0.1 (FP6?)
Subject: When did it change?
It USED to be IM_DISABLED, https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/im_disabled https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/im_disabled
Apparently no-one at IBM was ever informed of the change → https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/Notes.inis_H-I https://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/dominowiki.nsf/dx/Notes.inis_H-I
Subject: Try
Either clearing the auto login info/credentials
Or
Set the sametime server field in the person doc to a * (could be any thing as long as that sametime server name does not exist)
or
find this directory under userdata\workspace will be a few directories down and delete it
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.login: Contains Sametime login information
These can be deleted as well
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.alertmanager: Contains data for Sametime alert settings and autostatus settings.
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.community.impl: Contains Sametime community configuration data
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.imhub: Contains Sametime local contact list
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.people.impl: Contains Sametime person cache
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.palettes: Contains image resources for Lotus Sametime (such as emoticon images)
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.primarybuddies: Contains primary contact information
Subject: Doesn’t seem to work if Designer installed!
Interestingly enough, doesn’t seem to work if designer installed.
I’ve added the following to my Notes.ini:
IM_DISABLED=1
IM_DISABLE=1
$IM_DISABLE_CHAT_INVIEW=1
However, as soon as designer is started, I’m logged into Sametime.
re: The difference between IM_DISABLE and IM_DISABLED; It’d be nice if someone from IBM that might review the forum puts a bug in someone else’s ear that the Notes.INI reference is worse than worthless.
Subject: Who knows
If you trace the history of the ini they flipped so main times on different release of notes as to whether it is disable vs disabled that I have in my code that sets/removes the ini to do both
Subject: May have changed in 2013
I recall in 2013 having problems getting the old parameter to work with 9.0. I thought that I had entered it incorrectly from memory, and so stumbled on the right way, which is IM_DISABLE=1.
This IBM technote that was last modified in 2014 mentions IM_DISABLE=1: LO79888: IF EMBEDDED SAMETIME IS NOT INSTALLED IN THE CLIENT, SAMETIME UI SHOULD NOT SHOW IN THE 'ABOUT' SECTION http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1LO79888
Subject: The variable should be IM_DISABLE=1
Only one letter D in the parameter. The parameter is available still in 9.0.1. Sametime is still displayed if you click in the Notes client under Help > About IBM Notes and click on Plug-In Details.
