"If it wasn't for OpenNTF, we wouldn't be leaving Exchange for Notes"

This is a true quote from a new client of mine who found OpenNTF functionality so important that they wouldn’t be planning to switch from Exchange to Notes without it. Of course, they want it in R5 (need Entrust support) so I have to do some engineering to port the core OpenNTF features.

Two other points they made were:

  1. The mail header looks totally ugly went sent through the Internet…a show stopper in their mind so we’ll be engineering an Outlook-like mail header (that looks nice in SMTP) for them.

  2. “Why aren’t the contacts in the mail file like everything else?” I wish we had time to OpenNTF that as well, but I don’t at this time.

Finally, these are nice things and I hope they make it into the core Notes mail template…so OpenNTF has to push the envelope even further!

…Neil

P.S. They’ve agreed to post the work I’ll be doing on OpenNTF R5 back to the OpenNTF website.

Subject: That’s good news…

… although it won’t be easy to port the functionality to R5. Noo, it’s not a problem, it’s a challenge

I’d like to discuss with you the port to R5. There are some significant challenges there that we should talk about.

And thanks for the heads up. We love hearing this kind of stuff!

Neil,

Please check out the “Quick Stuff” outline options and you will find contacts in the mail “interface” like everything else!

Keep up the good work,

Bob

Neil,

The QuickStuff\ModifyRecipients Outline pick allows you to specify Contacts from your Personal NAB who show in your QuickStuff list. When Contacts are added to the list then links are built so that New Memos can quickly be created to these people. Hence, eventhough the Contacts are still in your Personal NAB they appear in your mail interface. Please try it out.

Hope this helps,

Bob
