Idea for a sidebar input form on our Lotus Notes Client

Hello,

We’ve created a database application for our Support Teams to log tasks. To access the app we leave our email and open the task log. I have an idea to create a sidebar input form (widget?) that would allow us to quickly create an entry in our task log database.

Does this sound plausible? If so, is there a starting point for me to begin?
