ID VAULT Issue

Hi All,I have a problem Regarding the ID Vault usage.

I Have configured the ID Vault As per documentation and Procedure.

Problem is that when I reset the password of test user from domino admin client it will not be updated on the client pc configured for that user.

Amazingly when i delete the userid from his pc , the reset password start working when Lotus client restarted.

Can any one plz help me to resolve this issue.

Thanks

Subject: Questions…

Can you be more specific with what you are observing on the client: When you say the client pc is not updated, what is happening on the client that makes you think it is not working?

The old password still works until sync occurs with the ID Vault.

After resetting the password in the admin client, did you bring the user’s client down and then on next use enter the new password that was reset by the admin in the vault?

If so, what happened on the client side?

Are there any messages logged in the client log when attempting the new password?

You may also want to double check that the user has a policy with a vault assigned and enabled (and that the policy hasn’t changed.)

Thanks for your Support

Synchronization does not happen immediately, but within an 8 hour range

Ok Got it, Actually i tried it immediately but later it works.

  1. Secondly what is the minimum time for the passwords to sync ?

  2. Thirdly should "Check password "must be enabled in the person document in Address book for the ID vault t o work , if yes what is the right way using policies.

And last question .

  1. During the registration of the person , we need to check at least one item from below or both

I. “In Domino Directory”

II. “In File”

Thanks for your Help and support

Subject: ID vault answers

  1. If a user changes his password while online, or if an administrator resets a user’s password, the change will be reflected in the vault immediately. In the case of a password change, the change is not automatically propogated to other clients. Afterwards, whenever the user starts up a Notes client (while online) and types in the new password, he will then be able to launch Notes with the new password.

  2. You do not need to turn on server-based password checking to use the ID vault.

  3. No, you do not need to select those options, unless you would like to. If the new user is assigned a policy that has a vault assigned, the new ID file will be automatically put into the vault when registering that user. During new client set up, the user will be able to obtain his ID file from the ID vault.
