ID Recovery\Back up ID DB

Hi,

I’m not sure if this is working as designed, but it is REALLY annoying. Thankfully is only in our test environment at the moment.

We have ID recovery turned on and all users are roaming users with their ID’s stored in their NAB’s and the DD.

When you create a new user, the ID’s are attached to the address books. BUT the first time that you log on with the ID it sends a copy to the back up db and then REMOVES the ones from the NAB and DD.

We have users, who because of the devices they use, always log on with their roaming ID’s and they can no longer do so once it is removed.

Any ideas about this would be great. I am hoping that it is just something that I have missed somewhere.

BTW, we only use the 8.02 server & basic client.

Cheers

Tamar

Subject: IDs in the public directory

ID Recovery is probably a red herring in this scenario; it doesn’t delete any copies of the ID file, and seems to be working correctly in this case.

The ID in the public directory is removed intentionally during setup after being copied to the Notes client, as otherwise an attacker could try to steal that ID file (which probably has a fairly simple, predictable, or re-used password) at any point in the future.

Sadly, I can’t tell you much more about the “roaming copy” of the ID file than to double-check the roaming configuration settings.
