ID file: wrong passwd

Dear all,

When I register a new user, I received automatically a copy of the new id file per e-mail.

When the client is set up, the user id file is removed from the domino directory.

For some reasons, I had to uninstall and reinstall a client. As it was a second set-up, it asks me for the id file (because it can not be found anymore in the domino directory). I used the copy I have with this e-mail mechanism. However it tells me that the password is wrong. I tried then with the id which was stored on the user machine during the first installation, and it works, although the password hasn’t been changed.

I checked then with other users and it has always the same behaviour…

Why this id file from the mail doesn’t work ?

What is the right way to safely store id files in case of reinstallation/computer crash ?

Thanks in advance,

Denis.

If you have ID file recovery configured, then the copies of the ID file that are being sent to a mail-in database are actually encrypted backups of the ID file, and cannot be unlocked normally with a password. The only way to unlock encrypted backup ID files is through the ID file recovery process.
