Don’t you love it when IBM says “it is working as designed” when the reality is that it is not working as any normal person would think it is supposed to work. I call this nonsense IBM relativity. It is “working as designed” relative to IBM, not the real world.
This is an actual response from IBM Support:
"Thank you for contacting IBM support. I will be assisting you with this PMR. I understand that you have questions on the unread marks shown on the workspace icon for databases.
I went over the image that you uploaded and it is working as designed. The workspace icons should not be used as a measure to see the unread count of the inbox. The workspace icon has many other design elements than the unread count of the Inbox and hence you see that it will be off than what you see in the Inbox folder.
Do the users see a difference in the unread count in their Inbox when they are in mailfile? Marking all documents will sync it for a bit but the Design elements of the database will put it out of sync once the design or the update task runs on that mailfile on the server.
Moving forward you should advise the users to check the unread count when they are in the mailfile and the compare the count of the INBOX with the unread count in the Inbox to see if they match or not.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or is it okay for me to close the PMR.
Thanks"
btw, I do understand that the unread count on the workspace icon shows the number of unread documents in the entire database, not just the inbox. The unread count is still wrong.
Why bother showing an unread count if IBM knows its not going to reflect the actual number of unread documents in the database relative to the user? But then again, its always relative to IBM.
