A few users (including myself) at my building have issues typing sometimes. After certain dialog boxes opening and closing, letters will not show when typing them
For example, after choosing a mail recipient from the to: dialog in mail, I am sometimes not able to type in the subject or message body boxes
Rodrigo, my instance is also on a current model Macbook Pro (mid 2015 15"). I have been unable to reproduce on an older Mac Mini with the same OS (El Capitan), Notes 64 bit version and mail database. Please keep us updated if you learn anything. I will do the same.
I have a similar problem with one user. It was reported as a Notes “crash”. It turned out that the keyboard becomes unresponsive but only in Notes. Trackpad works fine. It was reported as resulting from searching within mail which I did confirm that I could reproduce on this Macbook Pro. After a few searches, the keyboard no longer produces input.
The machine is running Notes 9.0.1 on OSX 10.11.3. I could not reproduce this on another Mac (Mini) running the same Notes and OS versions.
The unresponsiveness was both with the built-in and wireless keyboards and occurred with and without bluetooth on. This users has as a TON of other apps installed. My test Mac has virtually nothing else. That’s all I have to go on so far.
After I reported my first instance we had a second. As soon as I saw the force click setting change recommendation, it was applied to both and we have had no problems since.
For me, the issue happens even with my native macbook pro keyboard. As for the user he has issues when off of his dock - which has usb and ethernet. His laptop would still be connected to his bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Maybe using the built in keyboard while a bluetooth device is connected is an issue?
Hi, We just had this same issue and the solution is to disable the Touch Force feature in the TrackPad on the new MBP Retina. Many thanks for the solution, I found this post in the 1st result in Google after searching for “ibm notes keyboard stop working osx 10.11.3”
How to reproduce?
You need a MacBook Pro Retina Display with force touch trackpad
Notes 9.0.1 64 bits, from 2015 (no new build is available for OSX 64 bit yet)
OSX El Capitan 10.11.3
Both Fixes available as of today from IBM does not solve this issue. (Hotfix_901SHF619 and ICAA1.0.0.1_IF1_MAC64)
I have the same problem with ten new macbook pro where the keyboard becomes unresponsive , I don’t know that is causing that and all are using the 64 bits version of IBM Notes.
That is the versión that we install in all our computers with El Capitan but only with these new macbook we have problems, I am about to open a PRM .
Are you using some wirelles keyboard or the issue also occurs with “native” keyboard of your Macs?
There are some reports of IBM’s customers reporting the same issue but the majority of issues are related with Bluetooth issues after upgrade Mac OS to El Capitan.
I am using Notes 9.0.1 64 bits running on Mac OS 10.11.3 - El Capitan, but no issues with keyboard was found on any application.
There are some forums from Apple reporting issues with keyboard.
Try to look that.
I’ve been having the exact same behavior as described - Notes 9.0.1, OS 10.11.5, builtin keyboard, problem affects only Notes when it occurs. Problem is intermittent, but I’ve seen it at least 10 times. Trying the fix mentioned.
It looks like related to the force click feature which is a new feature in El Capitan with new force-touch enabled trackpad, as far as I know, developers had fix already, but not merged yet.
The workaround is disable the force click in System Preferences->Trackpad.
Could you please have a try?
