Well, we have two Domino servers which are in the same version 6.5.2 :
When I run this form on each two servers with Firefox, all works fine, I get “SHOP_CART_ID=4646” in Computed field
but with IE (6) works only with one server (always the same), with the second server, the cookie is not set and the computed field returns nothing (of course…)
I read many, many, post here…
I tried to modify IE settings (at the minimal securities) without success, that works only with ONE server.
Subject: I have a strange problem with cookies ???
Hmm. Personally, I’ve seen all sorts of weird behavior with IE and cookies – my favorite is finding out that IE treats cookies as the same if one cookie’s name happens to be contained within another cookie’s name (like “Journal” and “TestJournal” – anyone else discovered this?).
Your problem is strange, though – at first I thought it was just IE being its usual ornery self, but then you said that it worked on one server and not another, and I’m starting to think that it may be both the server and IE. From my experience, though, if it is something in IE causing this behavior, it’s more than likely something intrinsic to the browser that you won’t be able to change.
Subject: RE: I have a strange problem with cookies ???
I know it is a bit late but perhaps for completeness.I encountered the same problem and this is what I found:
My situation:
Production server did not work
test server did work.
I then checked my cookies and saw that on the production server there were two cookies, one for the top level domain and one for the database (non standard format). I was checking for a value but it did not come up. I then showed the cookies in my document and it appeared that both cookies were displayed. The original code just assumed that there was ONE value in the cookie. In this case there was not!
The other cookie was created by the main website on the production server. Since this was not running on the testserver it was fine testing there.
So the morale of the story is: NEVER EVER ASSUME! (that there is one value in your cookie) - I would never have coded it this way, it is like testing for a value in your query_string. I never assume that there is only the one value in there
