I’m installing my first server ever. A test server. Nothing fancy, I just wanna be able to connect to it via Notes. I’ve installed it, created a new made-up domain, and now I don’t know what else I need to make the whole thing work.
Subject: I don’t know how to assign IP address for domino server 8
IN your DOmino Administrator opoen the Current Server Dcouments click on the Ports tab from there you can assign IP address but I recommend use a FQDN rather than static IP address. (e.g test.domino1.yourdomain.com with IP address 192.168.xx.xx put this entry in your internal DNS.
I didn’t know that, thanks for info, but I’m not able to connect to domino server with Admin (or Notes), thus I can’t enter the menu - I get a “can’t connect” error and the program shuts down.
Is there another way, or maybe I’ve overlooked something?
Can you reinstall domino server again? During the installation process there’s an option where you put all the TCP/IP information.
Uninstall your previous installation but, first,(of course) supply ip address and full qualifeied domain name (e.g. 192.168.xxx.xxx subnet mask then computer name or server name test.domino1.yourdomain.com) for the test server this will be used when you reinstall Domino Server once you reach the TCP/IP conifguration portion of the installation supply all the addresses of the server you assigned.
If you have a spare network switch (4 or 6 ports) use that to connect the test server plus install domino administrator on the same machine (for testing purposes).
Take note of the following:
Use path c:\Domino for the server
and use c:\program files\notes\ for the admin client
